Wanda H. Sorenson
Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and friend, Wanda Holladay Sorenson, 98, died peacefully May 26, 2006 in Orem, Utah. She was born February 20, 1908 in Santaquin, Utah to Jesse Hollis and Jennie Petersen Holladay. She married John Frank Sorenson April 8, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died November 16, 1997.
Wanda was an active member of the LDS Church serving in the Primary and as Relief Society Secretary for many years. She also served as a temple worker in the Manti Temple. At an early age she learned tatting and shared her talent all of her life. She also loved cooking, sewing, crocheting and quilting and sold many of her quilts at Mormon Handicraft, and an array of many beautiful handcrafted articles. She cared for her family while working along side her husband on the family farm and orchards.
Wanda loved people. Everyone who knew her loved and appreciated her gentleness, thoughtfulness and many talents. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed her grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her children: Carol (Jay) Perry, Temecula, California; Lowell (Nancy) Sorenson, Sandy; Steven (Susan) Sorenson, Orem; Paul (Diana) Sorenson, Springville; 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Leah Openshaw and Gladys Gale, a brother, Angus Holladay, 2 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Canyon Breeze Senior Living and Vista Care Hospice for all their love and special care.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 31st at 11:00 a.m. in the Santaquin North Stake Center, 545 North 200 East. Friends may call at Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, Tuesday 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Santaquin Cemetery.
