On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, Vickey Christine Madsen, our loving mother passed away surrounded by her children in her home at the age of 63, after losing her short battle from pancreatic cancer. Vickey was born December 19, 1959, in Pomona California to Mick Crawley and Judy (Crawley-Babb) Evans. Although her parents had divorced when she was a child, her mother Judy had met an amazing man, Billy Babb, that helped raise her and her siblings. Vickey adored Billy as her own father figure. She grew up in Provo Canyon right next to the river. She was a proud Orem High Tiger and graduated in 1978 (she was devastated she could not make it to her high school reunion this year due to the cancer.)
Vickey married the man of her dreams when she married Lee in 1979, in front yard of her parents home in Provo Canyon. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland Temple in 1985. The couple was blessed with four beautiful children: Jennifer, Christopher, Cody, and Aubrey. They moved to Hollister California in 1983 for new opportunities, where they became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served many callings. They enjoyed living in Hollister and made many close life long friends.
In 1993, Vickey, Lee, and the kids settled back in Utah County doing what they enjoyed most, spending time with their family, church, and attending all kinds of sports. Vickey enjoyed helping on the ice hockey board, what was once called TAHA, when the ice rink was located down at Utah Lake and three of her children played ice hockey for many years.
Vickey was a kind, sweet, and generous woman. She loved to bake, cook, and sew many things. She was a creator of anything to do with crafts, and would make things from scratch. She would always go the extra mile to make any get together or social event be a glorious and extravagant time for everyone. She constantly put everyone before herself.
Vickey and Lee moved to Malad Idaho in 2009 to a beautiful home up on a hill that over looked the valley. She loved having family visit and made many special memories there. But Vickey loved being a city girl, and longed to be closer to her children back in Utah. She had moved back to Pleasant Grove in 2018 by herself. She just thrived and was over joyed to find many new friends that she loved being around. She started planning and organizing over-the-top potlucks with all her dear friends. She was a true giver, and brought smiles and joy to make any moment a special one.
In 2021, Vickey's loving husband Lee, passed away. She was heartbroken, and could not fill that empty space. Her world revolved around Lee and she longed to be with him again someday. When Vickey was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in April of 2023, it shook her world, but still was able to travel with family and make a few more amazing memories to cherish forever.
Vickey is preceded in death of her husband Lee, mother Judy Evans, and father Mick Crawley. Survived are her four children: Jennifer (Jay), Christopher (Jami), Cody (Whitney), and Aubrey. She is also survived of her brother Mickey, sister Colleen (Ken), and sister Loreen.
Funeral services will be Friday September 1, 2023 at 11:30am. Family and friends are welcome to the viewing held at 10:30am at the Grove LDS Church Building located at 455 East 200 South Pleasant Grove, UT 84062.
A light luncheon will be provided for close family following the funeral services.
**In lieu of flowers, the family would love any help towards funeral costs if possible.** There has been a go-fund-me created, or venmo:
