Valient Joel White passed away Friday, July 3, 2010. Though we ache from his loss, we have peace. He is now free from his long struggle with cancer. He was welcomed, no doubt, by the joyful tears and laughter of his beloved daughter, Laurie, who preceded him in death.

Joel was born May 24, 1936 to Valient Joseph White and Gertrude Nelie Sorenson. He married Patricia Yvonne Long August 13, 1955. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.

Joel served twice as a Bishop, was in the Stake Presidency and was one of Goshen's Mayors. He worked twenty years with Kennecott as a Foreman and Safety Engineer. We will miss learning from his innate ability to fix anything and his enthusiasm for family, temple service and sports.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his three sons, Joel (Elaine) White, Ron White, Brett (Jeri) White; his brother, Phil; sisters, Madelyn Knowles and Shirley Davis; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10th at 11:00 am at the Goshen LDS Ward, 70 South Center. A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Holladay-Brown Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin and Saturday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to services. Interment, Goshen City Cemetery.
