Stephen Richard Keysor

Stephen Richard Keysor, age 69, quietly passed away on September 14, 2024 in his South Jordan, Utah residence. He was born on March 25, 1955. Throughout life, Stephen was a cherished father, devoted husband, protective brother, and loyal friend and was known by them for his boundless curiosity and generous personality. He was spectacularly modest and gravitated towards “the simple and quiet life.”

In his adolescent years, Stephen lived in Canyon Country, California. Following high school, he continued his education at Brigham Young University where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees. He used his education and ingenuity to successfully create and develop several enterprises focused on using data-driven insights to improve the quality of soils and, thereby, increase and improve agricultural production.

Stephen was deeply committed to God and was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served the Church for two years as a missionary in Denmark and later as a bishop in the Lancaster, California Stake. His friendly and unpretentious personality reflected an innate love of God and a natural love for his fellowmen. Stephen was calm and compassionate towards those with opposing views and willing to accommodate different perspectives.

Stephen's interests extended to a lifelong passion for the sciences of chemistry and biology and, in his later years, the science of genealogy—finding and connecting with individuals in his family tree.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Packard Keysor, and her children Chyrelle Fowers (Brett), Ryan Loveland (Anna), Mishala Pilling (Matthew), Lars Loveland, Brandon Loveland, and Tylene Rider (Casey). He is loved by many grandchildren who call him grandpa. He is the only grandfather they know. He is also survived by his previous wife Kathy Cornelius Pearson and their children Laura Keysor, David James Keysor, Michael Keysor (Stefani), and Mark Keysor (Maggie); his mother, Arlene M. Keysor; and siblings Claudia Hamilton (Kevin), Kari Evans (David), Jennifer Keysor, David Keysor (Rosalie), Lisa Cheney (Bryan), Colleen Gordon (Robb), Stacy Crowther (David), and Christine Scott (Benjamin). Stephen is preceded in death by his father, Richard B. Keysor.

Stephen's life was a testament to the impact one individual can have on the lives of many. He will be remembered for reaching out and helping, even beyond his means, those in need, for his innovative mind, and his unwavering support and love for his family. Though unspoken, the name of “grandpa” will echo in the hearts of his 16 grandchildren who adored him. Stephen’s example and legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
