Scott Hintze

Scott Lund Hintze, age 74, passed away June 12, 2024 at Mountain View hospital in Payson, Utah surrounded by family.

Scott was born November 7, 1949 in Richland, Washington to Sears and Virginia Lund Hintze. At the age of two, they moved to Utah where he grew up in Edgemont. He graduated from B.Y. High School in 1968. He served in the Southwest British LDS mission. Not long after returning home from his mission he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Walker, in the Manti Temple on April 2, 1971.

He joined the Army National Guard in October of 1973 and served honorably for 4 years.

He worked at the carpenter shop at BYU, then worked as a general contractor, partnered with Doyle Reeve. He then worked at the Missionary Training Center but continued on as a general contractor for many years. He continued his amazing skill for wood working by making intarsia, carving doors, wooden toys, music and jewelry boxes, and any new things he could try with wood, all of which have been enjoyed by everyone. His other hobbies included hunting, camping, fishing, gardening and shooting birds that got in his cherry trees.

He served many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in the Provo and Payson Utah temples.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, their children Shane (Janet), Sean (Ashley), Reannon (Wes), Heather (Jared), Sage (Ashley), 22 grandkids and 4 great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, niece and nephew.

We want to give a special thank you to his amazing doctors and nurses at Mountain View Hospital. We often think about you and the care you gave Scott during the final moments. You truly were a light in the middle of the darkness. We know that you did the best you could and for that we are endlessly grateful.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 545 N 200 E, Santaquin, Utah.
