Known fondly by friends and family as Shawn was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on December 23, 2021 and although his mortal light has been dimmed, imagine how bright heaven is now that he has returned to his heavenly home.
Shawn was born on March 13, 1973 in Columbus, Georgia. His family moved several times when he was growing up. He lived in San Diego, California, Pensacola, Florida and eventually moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia his junior year of high school. He graduated from Salem High School in 1991. He then went on to serve a 2 year mission to Panama City, Panama for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1992 to 1994. He attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah after his mission. While there he met his wife April and they were sealed in the Jordan River Temple on August 16, 1996. In 2000 he graduated with a Masters degree in Business.
His career took Shawn and his family to many places, from Round Rock, Texas, Maple Grove, MN, Phoenix, Arizona, across the pond to England and finally to the sunshine state of Florida. He has enjoyed many positions in Finance and Global Payroll at Dell, Select Comfort, American Express and Verizon.
Shawn was a natural leader. He loved teaching, mentoring and motivating people to reach their greatest potential. He could make you feel like you were the most important person and once he was your friend, you were his friend for a lifetime.
He enjoyed serving in his church and was called to many positions that allowed him to love and serve others. He especially loved working with the youth. He made a significant impact on the lives of every individual he touched through his service in the church as he served faithfully and always strived to live a Christlike life.
His most important accomplishment in this life was his family and his 5 children. He loved traveling, cooking, music, family game nights, and dinners together with them, the memories they made through the years were invaluable to him and truly his greatest joy.
Shawn’s motto in life when asked how he was doing he would always say “Living the Dream”, while he has moved on from this life, our greatest legacy we can give him is to continue living his dream!
Schnard (Shawn) is survived by his wife April (Sames) and his children Kyra, Alex (Danny) Siglin, William, James and Kaitlyn.
