Russell L Pierce, affectionately known by many as "Big Russ" or simply "Sasquatch," was born on February 27, 1961, in Provo, Utah. He passed away on November 19, 2024, at the age of 63. At the time of his passing, he resided in Payson, where his warmth and spirit touched the lives of many.
Throughout his life, Russell found joy in the simple pleasures of spending time with those he loved the most. Whether it was casting a line in the water on a peaceful fishing trip or the thrill of chariot racing, Russell cherished every moment with his family. He also had an impressive athletic streak, notably winning the state wrestling championship during his senior year of high school, a testament to his determination and strength.
Professionally, Russell worked as a construction worker, contributing to projects with the same dedication he showed in every aspect of his life. Those who knew him well will remember his towering presence coupled with a generous heart. He was a man who constantly put others' needs before his own, earning the admiration and gratitude of many. In his quiet way, he was always ready to lend a hand to those in need, leaving an indelible mark on his community.
Russell is survived by his loving children and grandchildren: Brandy Wride, Caleb Wride, Makenzie Wride, Zac Pierce, Cortney Smith, Braxten Brown, Cayden Brown and Jaystin Smith. He also leaves behind his sister, Linda Odle and good friends Heidi Pierce, and Rick Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leear and Francelle Pierce, who surely welcome him with open arms.
A Memorial Service to honor and remember Russell's life will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Brown Family Mortuary, 66 S. 300 E. Santaquin.
As the rock of his family, his absence leaves a profound void, and he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
