In loving memory of Phillip Glenn Lords, affectionately known as Dad, Fire Papa, and esteemed firefighter, who passed away unexpectedly while he was doing what he loved, playing hockey with his fellow firefighters. Phil was 62 years old.
Phil was born in Salt Lake City to Glenn Nathan and Grace Alicia Harris Lords on October 6, 1961. Phil attended Granite High School. Following high school, Phil attended Snow College where he played football.
Phil married Annette DeBlasio on September 21, 1987; they were later divorced. Phil and Annette had one son, Kasey Phillip Lords, who Phil affectionately called “My Boy.” Phil enjoyed spending time with Kasey golfing, going to Utah football games, and playing a variety of sports.
As a father, he was always there with a hug and as a loving support for Kasey and his family. Whenever Phil was around, there was a lot of laughter and smiles.
As a grandfather, Phil, who was tenderly called “Fire Papa,” delighted in his five grandchildren, Ezra, Eli, Matilda, Koa, and Kai. He loved talking about fire trucks and basketball with Ezra, throwing the football with Eli, and sharing treats with Matilda, Koa and Kai. The grandchildren will always love their Fire Papa.
As a firefighter, Phil dedicated himself to protecting others. He had unwavering courage, selflessness, and commitment to the people that he served. He retired from the West Valley Fire Department after 36 years of dedicated service. He was an inspiration to all he worked with and the community he served.
When Phil was not working, you could find him playing hockey with his firefighter and E.M.T. brothers, riding his motorcycle with the Valley Riders, camping, attending Utah football games, and golfing with his friends and Kasey. Phil spent many lunchtimes at Top Golf with Kasey where Kasey humbly admits that his dad beat him handily. Phil always encouraged his grandchildren to participate in sports and supported them in their activities.
Phil is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kasey and Lindsay Lords, and his adoring grandchildren, Ezra, Eli, Matilda, Koa, and Kai. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Grace.
Phil’s legacy of love, kindness, and selfless service will live on in the hearts of all that knew him. He leaves behind the gift of love and courage. He will be remembered and cherished always.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 1:00 pm at the Riverview Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1327 West 5550 South in Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church from 11:00am to 12:45pm. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
