Patricia Sue Adamson Foster loved to dream and discover, learn and explore everything this world had to offer. Her 57,515 pins on Pinterest are an example of some of her many interests! Her passion for learning led her to get a degree from the University of Utah where she studied French language and literature & Library Science. She went on to attain her Master's degree in Information and Library Science at Brigham Young University. She became a Senior Librarian for teen services in the Salt Lake County Library system thus fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a librarian. She loved to mentor teens. She recently said her 50's were fabulous because she was working with teens! She was very influential in bringing the world of Manga/Anime to the SLCo library system and has been called the grandmother of Mange/Anime. She loved sharing her knowledge and spoke often including on a panel at Comic Con/Fan X.
Patricia was a very beautiful woman who took pride in her appearance. She loved putting together a fabulous look from the shoes to the fantastic jewelry and enjoyed being complimented.
She loved to travel and explore seizing opportunity for wider adventure when presented. She loved Utah and the western United states. She enjoyed her visits to
West Virginia, Texas, Missouri and her brief exploration of New York City and Toronto, Canada. She was elated to go see and explore China. If her lungs wouldn't have failed her she would have soon explored France and mainland Europe. She had an ear for language and spoke fluent French and German.
Patricia was born April 28th, 1946. She was adopted by Emma and David Adamson as a baby and raised with her brother Michael and sister Nancy. She married Lance Foster and though they later divorced after almost 2 decades together they remained close for the following 30 years. They raised 6 children: AnneMarie, Paul, Daniel, Susannah, Douglas (dcd) and Benjamin. They had 13 grand-children: Christina, Alex, Kalena, Seth, Samantha, Jenna, Jerika, Isabella, Solon, Aidan, Taran, Lillie and Elijah and 4 great grand-children: Hayden, Axille, Saxxon and Lincoln. She valued her sons and daughters in law: Michael, Angela, Julie, Fern, Shelley, Jeff and Amber as they were/are companions to her children and the loving parents of her cherished grand-children. Perhaps because she was adopted she also loved and cared for the siblings of her grand-children including Cameo, Lacie, Shyanne, Ashley, Tracey, Jennifer, Tyler and Cameron. Love never divides, it only multiplies and Patricia's heart also cared for many others including children of close friends and friends of her children many of whom affectionately called her "Ma Foster".
Patricia was delighted later in life to discover her long lost biological family and spend time with her other Mother Sylvia Wood before she passed. She enjoyed meeting/learning about her Wood siblings Ed, Mike, Richard, Jim, Yvonne, Jack, Barry, Scott and Jared. Unfortunately, her biological Father Stan Huff passed before her along with her sibling Russell but she was able to meet/learn about her Huff siblings Randall, Linda, Marlene, Eric, Elaine and Karen. She valued the time she had with them, their spouses and her many biological nieces and nephews.
Patricia loved her old house in Santaquin with it's high ceilings, swinging kitchen door and claw foot bath tub. She enjoyed her natural yard with the ornate pond, Terracotta warrior, beautiful flowers, plants, trees and lights. She always enjoyed receiving something beautiful to add to her yard or any other collection she had! We plan to honor Patricia by continuing to celebrate the many birthdays and holidays at her home as she especially loved seeing all of us together although we will miss her fabulous cooking especially her chili verde and enchiladas at Christmas.
One of her personal philosophies was "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be helpful/useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." -Emerson. She strove to live by this and pass these values on to her many loved ones. It seems inconceivable that she is no longer a part of this world that she knew and loved so well but as she also quoted: "I just want to be boundless and infinite." We can try to take some comfort in believing that she is truly boundless and infinite; to remember her while we continue to experience this magnificent journey of life and to cherish the loved ones with whom we experience it.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday May 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday May 19th from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the Brown Family Mortuary, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin. Graveside services will be held Friday May 19th at 2:00 pm at the Santaquin City Cemetery.
