Michael "Tino" Martinez

Our beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, Michael “Tino” Martinez of Payson, Utah passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the age of 64.

Tino was born on April 9, 1958 in Durango, Colorado to Rose Martinez. He was the 12^th of 13 children. He loved his siblings; Donald, Richard, Pab, Les, Tob, Louise, Lee, Marcella, Sharon, Dora, Lonnie, and Lupe. When he was 7 years old Grandma Rose moved the family to Payson, Utah where Tino attended school. He met and married Julie Wignall and had 3 children. He worked at Rayloc for 24 years and then Payson City until his early retirement in 2021. Tino cherished his family and close friends and made a point to keep in contact with them over the years.

He was a huge fan of the LA Dodgers and Denver Broncos. More importantly he truly enjoyed coaching little league teams in Payson and Provo and was an amazing mentor. He was very passionate about the sport, and the friendships he made with the kids and their families over the 17 years he coached. He made a big impact and was well known for his kindness and giving back to his community through baseball. He was always so excited about the game.

His greatest accomplishment was being an amazing grandfather. He was very proud of his grandkids and supportive of everything they did. It was rare for him to miss any of their events or ball games. His one and only tattoo was a baseball bat with all of their initials.

Tino was preceded in death by his mother, and 3 brothers. He is survived by his children Michelle (Craig) Courtney, Jason (Marleni) Martinez, and Jeff (Pamela) Martinez; grandchildren Skyler, Taylor, Graydon, Tyler, Jacob, Marley, Malachi, Alex and Brianna

A special thanks to his brother, our uncle, Lonnie Martinez for his countless efforts, he was always there for him, visiting daily and making sure everything was taken care of for him. Thank you to the staff at Parkway Health and Rehab for caring for Tino, we’re so grateful for all the visitors and support our dad has had this past year.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 12 – 2 p.m. at Payson City Center 439 W Utah Avenue, Payson, UT.

We love you dad; you will be missed dearly.
