On June 3, 2016, Michael David Elton, 81, gently passed away in his sleep while he was visiting family and friends in Bellevue, Washington. Mike was born July 8, 1934 in San Francisco and started a young family with his wife, Kay Strong, that eventually included 9 children. He was widely admired as both a church and business leader.
While raising a large family in Lake Oswego, Oregon, Mike was also starting an innovative real estate company with his business partner and close friend, Bill Colson (who passed in 2007). The company they grew and held for 35 years eventually became the gold standard for retirement housing.
For Mike and Kay everything was about family. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mike served in various leadership capacities and was loved by all who knew him for his quiet demeanor and his thoughtful approach to all matters. A patient and loving man, he loved golf and travel while looking for raw land for real estate.
A tall and handsome man with a full head of white hair, Mike was a gifted public speaker with a booming and deep voice. When he laughed, you knew it. When he sneezed, the neighbors knew it! The family grew strong roots in Lake Oswego, Oregon, as well as Mapleton, Utah, and Colleyville, Texas. He will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held in Bellevue, Washington on June 8, 2016. Graveside services with Military Rites were held at the Mapleton, Utah Cemetery on June 10, 2016.
