Keith M Evans

Keith Evans, age 56, unexpectedly returned to the arms of his sweetheart and our Heavenly Father on January 6, 2024.

Keith was born on May 9, 1967 in Vernal, Utah to Jim and Kathy Evans. Keith had a childhood full of memories with four brothers and four sisters. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1985. He was called to the Ohio Columbus Mission in 1986. He spent most of his mission on the John Johnson Farm making life-long friends.

After returning home from his mission, Keith found the “love of his life” Marianne Jacklin. They were married on February 11, 1989 and were sealed in the St. George Temple on August 10, 1991.

Keith has been a hard worker since he was in high school. His passion for cars led him to a career in the automotive sales industry with AutoZone and Checker. He was completing his 12ᵗʰ year with High Country Marketing when he passed.

In 1997 Keith fell in love with hot air ballooning. For the next 18 years, Keith’s love for hot air ballooning soared and ballooning grew into the family’s favorite tradition. Keith’s infectious smile in high school earned him the nickname Smiley - a name that reflected his positive outlook on life. When Keith bought his first balloon, he named it Smiley’s Dream since flying had become his dream. Keith earned his private and commercial pilot’s licenses and jumped at an opportunity to purchase The Train Balloon. This balloon has become a kid’s favorite at every glow. Keith loved sharing his passion through being a balloon ambassador. He built a balloon family around the world as he reminded everyone to “get your smile on.”

Keith’s generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand defined him. He was always helping others and found so much joy in this service. He was a devoted member of his community and served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He always served others with a genuine smile and an open heart.

Keith is survived by his three children, Michael (Kylee) Evans, Tyler (Tania) Evans, and Jessica (Weston) Johnson; grandchildren, Cooper, Madisyn, Makynlie, McKade, Cole, Michael, Emmett and two grandbabies on the way. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marianne.

Keith’s smile and legacy live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A viewing will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.
