Kay Cushing

Kay Cushing, 80, from Payson, Utah passed away at his home on October 25, 2024, surrounded by family.

Kay was born December 3, 1943 to Heber and Naomi Richmond Cushing. He was raised in Eureka, Utah with his six siblings, including his twin brother, Kent. He graduated from Tintic High School where he made many lifelong friends. He was Student Body President and played on the basketball team. This was where he met his sweetheart, Donna Greenhalgh. They were married August 4, 1962, and were blessed with three children.

Kay worked in the mines around Eureka as a young man. He worked many years as a union carpenter before retiring from Wells Fargo. He was a talented carpenter and always lent a hand to anyone who needed it. He was always the first one there and the last to leave.

After retirement, he and Donna spent many winters in Needles, CA where they met friends from all over. He was an avid golfer and loved to dance! He loved to go camping with family and friends, listening to country music and playing horseshoes. He spent many mornings telling jokes at the coffee shop, where he was known to bring his own coffee.

He is survived by his children: Todd (Sharyl) Cushing, Chad (Shanna) Cushing, and Kimberly (Kayle) Jensen, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his grandson Jason Cushing, and his siblings.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 9th, from 1-3 PM, at the Santaquin City Office Building, 110 S Center Street, in the multi-purpose room. Please enter from west doors through the west parking lot.
