The family of Julie Wignall Gubler is saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in Orem Utah at the age of sixty-three. Julie was born to Rex Losee Wignall and Norma Limb Wignall on May 30, 1960, in Payson Utah, the third of four daughters. Raised in Payson, she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and graduated from Payson High School in 1978.
While living in Payson Julie married Mike Martinez and they had three children, Michelle, Jason, and Jeff. They later divorced and Julie moved to Southern Utah.
While living in St George, Julie developed her creative abilities and could turn a simple piece of wood into a work of art. She loved knitting and crocheting so she joined group known as the “Virgin Hookers” in Virgin, Utah. Julie always got a laugh out of the name and had a great time with all her friends there. Julie also loved collecting antiques and was drawn to American Pioneer pieces.
Julie then met her soulmate David Gubler, and they were married in 2001, beginning a great adventure for them both. They lived and worked together in Cedar City and made a home in Right Hand Canyon. On the mountain they raised horses and became AKC registered breeders of German Shorthair Pointers. Her nurturing care produced many stellar hunting dogs, and she always had a hard time letting any of them go to new homes. Living in nature and surviving the seasons with all her animals, sometimes without easy access to leave the mountain, she found many ways to fix any problems that would arise, including trudging through snow to break ice dams to keep water flowing. Over the past several years Julie and Dave also enjoyed travelling and living in many places, including Montana, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to name a few.
Julie’s greatest accomplishments were her kids and grandkids, she was so proud of them. She is survived by her husband David Gubler, her daughter Michelle Martinez (Craig) Courtney, and sons, Jason Micheal (Marleni) Martinez, and Jeffery R (Pamela) Martinez and her grandchildren, Skyler, Taylor, Graydon, Tyler, Jacob, Marley, Malachi, Alex, and Brianna.
We want to sincerely thank the amazing staff that cared for Julie at Orchard Park Rehabilitation over the past year, their loving care did not go unnoticed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 17 at 11:00 AM in the Payson West Stake Center Relief Society room, 780 West 500 South Payson, Utah.
