Joyann Packard

March 15, 1934 — June 24, 2021

Joyann Marlene Jones Packard, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 24, 2021.  She was born on March 15, 1934 in Provo Utah to Milton Carlos and Leone Elizabeth Nielsen Jones.

She is married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on May 15, 1953 to Ace William (Bill) Packard. They enjoyed 68 wonderful years together.

Joyann is survived by her husband, Bill, and 9 children including Raymond, Beverly Keysor, Byron, Joyleen Bastian, Kevin, David, Marlene Richardson, Lahna Prows, and Carlos. She is also survived by her siblings Patricia Taylor, Richard, Donald, Daniel, Steven, Samuel, and Michael. She is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Leone Jones, and siblings Jonathan and Susan.

She was born in Provo Utah and lived in Meridian Idaho, Alameda California, San Diego California, Prince George British Columbia Canada, Bountiful Utah, West Jordan Utah, Centerfield Utah, Santaquin Utah, Spanish Fork Utah, and South Jordan Utah. She met Bill in Meridian, Idaho as a youth where both attended Meridian High School.  They dated during their high school years, fell in love, and were engaged on graduation night.  Bill joined the Navy and, while on leave, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Her joy, love, and dedication were to her good husband she affectionately called, Bill, and her nine children.

Her faith in, and love for our Savior Jesus Christ, was everything to her.  With Bill at her side, she devoted her life to helping her children obtain faith in, and love for, our Savior Jesus Christ and to keep on the covenant path.  She was loved by all and her love for others was seen in her calloused hands. She loved to serve and always reached out to comfort those in need and bear the burdens that were often too heavy for her shoulders. Early in life, she discovered the power of praying to her Heavenly Father.  God knew her and she knew Him. When she prayed, the heavens listened. All for whom she prayed were fortunate and blessed.

She loved Bill with a love that will never end.  When he came home from a long day at work, she would greet him at the door with a kiss and a hug.  The affection and love they shared together was an ensample for all.  She followed Bill wherever he went, even to British Columbia Canada where there was an absence of running water, an outhouse for a bathroom, a #3 tub for bathing, and unfinished home.  Her love and kindness was all that made a home.

Joyann played the piano, enjoyed singing, loved to play games, sewed, was a brilliant cook, and made time together enjoyable.  She served whenever the Lord called and was a wise counselor and mother image to many.  Together, Joyann and Bill served two church missions and supported each other during Bill’s many time-consuming callings.

She will be dearly missed.
