Joel Lee Painter

Joel Lee Painter was born in Payson, Utah, the youngest of 6 children born to John and Darla (Steele) Painter, on October 30, 1971. He passed away in his home in Apache Junction, AZ on June 30, 2024 from complications following an extended battle with cancer. Joel won that battle and was cancer free when he left this life. 

Joel was a son, brother, dad, "Papa", uncle, cousin, and friend. Joel was a warrior, battling Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma for almost 10 years before finally being given the all clear just days before passing. Joel was an avid outdoorsman who loved sharing that passion with his family and friends and will be remembered for his excitement over each hunt. 

Joel is survived by his children Tori (Josh) Stewart and Ty Painter; as well as his grandchildren Aiden, Brooklynne, Julian, and Maddox; siblings Terri Tidwell, Kraig (Lisa) Painter, Kurt (Tami) Painter, and Brett (Veronica) Painter. He was preceded in death by his parents John G. and Darla L. (Steele) Painter, brother Gary D.  Painter, his niece Krista Ann Painter and all those he will be reunited with in his Heavenly home. 

The family would like to thank everyone who donated to the GoFundMe to honor Joel's final wishes to be buried next to his parents in Santaquin Cemetery; as well as express their gratitude for all the thoughts, prayer and well wishes. Additionally, a memorial will also take place in Arizona at a date and time to be announced later.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Matthew Ulrickson and the staff at MD Anderson at Banner Gateway for the care, compassion and warrior spirit that helped Joel be cured of cancer. We would also like to thank At Seasons End Mortuary in Apache Junction, AZ, Brown Family Mortuary in Santaquin, UT and Southwest Airlines for their care and assistance getting Joel to his final resting place. 

Graveside services honoring Joel will be Saturday July 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santaquin City Cemetery, 100 East 300 South Santaquin, UT.
