Isidore "Charlie" Etchepare

Isidore Dominique (Charlie) Etchepare passed away January 17, 2024 in his home town of Queen Creek, Arizona after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. Charlie was born August 18, 1941, in Saint-Etienne, deBaigorry, France. In 1964, at the young age of 23, Charlie move to the U.S. and worked for the Hatch Ranches in Skull Valley, Utah as a ranch hand and later became ranch foreman. In December 1982, Charlie married the love of his life Gwen Armstrong Hill and at that time became the proud stepfather of Gwen’s son Chad Hill. In 1985, Charlie and Gwen moved from Skull Valley to St. John, Utah. Charlie then went to work for Lockheed at the Dugway Proving Grounds and in 1997 he became employed by the USAF until he retired in 2007. After retirement, Charlie and Gwen moved to Arizona to be with their son Chad and their grandchildren Ellen and Declan. 

Charlie enjoyed helping others with whatever they needed, working in his yard and garage, taking care of their animals, and enjoying everything life had to offer, especially watching his Miami Dolphins and talking with friends on the weekends. Charlie was a man of his word and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Charlie is survived by his wife Gwen (Queen Creek, Arizona); grandchildren Ellen Hill (Elkton, Mississippi), and Declan Hill (Cave Creek, Arizona); sister Anna Beyria (Anglet, France); and five nieces and one nephew. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and stepson Chad Hill. 

Graveside services will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Clover (Rush Valley), Utah cemetery under the direction of Brown Family Mortuary. Gwen would like to express her sincere thanks for all who reached out to her during these difficult times.
