Iris Swenson

Iris D. Hawkins Swenson, age 88 of Eureka, Utah passed away August 29, 2023 after complications from dementia. Iris was born on April 18, 1935 to Alma and Cynthia Hawkins in Eureka, Utah. Iris married the love of her life, Arnold Swenson in 1957. They had two beautiful daughters, Cynthia and Rachel.

Iris was a talented painter of ceramics, an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and baking. Iris was well-known for being a little spitfire. She was sassy and loved to argue and was quite good at it. In her later years she loved being a grandma. All of her grandkids considered her a second mom. The grandkids spent most of their summer days with grandma watching The Price is Right, baking cookies or learning to paint ceramics.

Iris was preceded in death by both of her parents, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her twin sister Irene Ellsworth; her husband, Arnold; her two daughters Cynthia (Terry Kirgan), Rachel (Darrin Carlson); her 5 grandchildren Jace (Ashley) Kirgan, Dayna (Chris) Rush, RaeLe (Daymon) Barnes, Zane Kirgan, KayAnn (Josh) Adams, and 3 great-grandchildren, Cooper and Ember Kirgan and Baby Adams.

She will be missed greatly. The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons of Santaquin and Valeo Hospice for their compassionate care of our mom.

Graveside services will be held at Eureka Cemetery September 2, 2023 at 1:00 pm.

There will not be a luncheon afterwards.
