Gladys Weight Robbins "Mother Dear"

It can be said of our precious wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Gladys Weight Robbins of Santaquin that she truly endured to the end and successfully completed her earthly mission on April 18, 2006 with family by her side. Gladys was born May 4, 1924 in Springville, Utah to Ralph and Minerva Weight. She was the fifth of six children. She attended schools in Springville graduating from Springville High. She also attended BYU for a short time. She married Darwin J. Robbins on July 10, 1948 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Utah temple on April 21, 1973. Her greatest accomplishment and one that she was most proud of was her family.

Gladys enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and making quilts for her children. She loved gardening and beautiful flowers. Her participation in community clubs such as the Literary Club and the Remus Rota Club garnered her many friends.

Gladys was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a faithful Relief Society visiting teacher and visiting coordinator for many years and held many other church callings. Gladys loved music and enjoyed singing with the community choir, Relief Society choirs and being chorister for the ward as well as the Primary and Sunday School. She played the piano by ear and loved accompanying the family band.

Gladys and Darwin enjoyed traveling. They were able to participate in tours to the Southern states, Hawaii, Nauvoo, the New England States, and Canada. They also enjoyed some winters in Quartsite with friends.
