Geraldine Gren Garbett, age 89 of Eureka, passed away February 2, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born May 5, 1932 to Melvin Victor Gren and Geraldine Hickman Dearing.
Geraldine grew up in Provo, Utah and spent her childhood with many friends and close family. She was especially fond of her father and would always talk about how wonderful he was. As a young girl she and her sister moved to Eureka to live with their Aunt Lygia, over the Vienna Bakery. Since then, she has called Eureka her home.
Gerry was married to Paul Hansen; they had five children together, and later divorced . She married Jack Garbett December 10, 1962, they had one daughter and spent the next 59 years together. Her and Jack loved going to Las Vegas to see the shows and play games. Over the years they were each other's best friend, and loved trying to get one over on each other.
Geraldine lived for her family. She was the proud mother of 6 children and numerous grandchildren who loved her dearly. She enjoyed fishing trips to Strawberry and hunting trips to La Sal. She was a fantastic baker and spoiled her family with cookies, pies, cakes, and bread. You could go to her house any time and there would be a pot of coffee and cards on the table, ready to be played. She enjoyed shopping trips to the valley, and always wanted to stop for a strawberry shake "at the top of the hill". She loved animals and had many dogs and cats over the years that she spoiled with slices of toast before bedtime and rides in the car. She loved all kinds of music and dancing. She loved a good joke and had an excellent sense of humor.
Gerry was truly the center of her family. Not a day will go by that her loss will not be felt.
Gerry is survived by her husband Jack T. Garbett, daughters Sandra (Doug) Fullerton of St Geroge, Janet (Jim) Larson of Lofgren, Jeri (Larry) Ezell of Eureka; son William (Sandy) Hansen of Eureka; brother Gordon Victor Penrod (Carolyn) of Mesa Arizona, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Vivian Gren Hudson, brother Dwaine Melvin Gren, daughter Pauline (Tom) Taylor, and son Gordon M. Hansen.
