Eleanor Millman

Our sweet and loving mother, Eleanor Myrtle Koenig Millman, passed away peacefully in her home July 10, 2018 at the age of 95. While she is missed dearly, she is now enjoying a glorious reunion with her family and friends that went on before her. Knowing this brings great comfort to her family.

Eleanor was the daughter of Fred and Eleanor (Sr.) Koenig. She was born June 15, 1923 in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York. She was a child prodigy which enabled her to do things at a very young age. She was a very bright girl that excelled in school, graduating earlier than her peers. She gave up a dream of becoming a brain surgeon and pursued her noblest goal of motherhood. And what a great mother she was. Eleanor mastered her music abilities with violin, piano and organ. She used these talents throughout her life and also to teach others her skills through piano lessons. She was also artistically talented and encouraged her children in this noble pursuit where they were able to excel.

Before World War II, Eleanor met Henry Hart Millman. Henry went on to serve in the US Navy soon after.  They corresponded with each other during that time. While on leave they eloped and were married in NYC. After the war their first son, Kenneth Alfred, was born in 1946. The Millmans left Staten Island for scenic Williamstown in Western Massachusetts. It was there that Dean Allen was born in 1948, Neil Howard in 1952, Lynne April in 1953 and David Henry in 1955. Henry supported his family as an electrician and Eleanor frequently worked for GE as a secretary. She never liked leaving her family for work and only worked when absolutely necessary. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake and sew. Eleanor was a perfectionist in everything she did.

In 1959, while living in Williamstown, Eleanor learned of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when two young LDS Missionaries knocked on her door. She accepted their message and her family joined the Church. In 1961 Henry and Eleanor took their clan to Sunset, Utah and a year later to Clearfield, Utah. Eleanor and Henry moved to Carson City, Nevada a few months after Lisa Beth was born in 1964. Only the four youngest kids went to Nevada while the two oldest stayed behind to finish high school.  Eleanor was very supportive of her kids in their artistic abilities, sports and travel activities they pursued. Henry and Eleanor were divorced in 1986 and in 1988 she moved to Provo, Utah, to be closer to her children. Henry stayed in Carson City until he passed away in 1997. They continued to maintain a friendly relationship. In 1999, Eleanor moved to Santaquin, Utah to be closer to Lynne and her three daughters until she passed away.

Eleanor loved traveling throughout this country which she did a lot with her family and husband. Later in her life she even visited Europe. She loved beautiful scenery, animals, flowers, artwork, driving  and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they all adored and loved her. Everyone that ever met Eleanor loved her instantly because of her smile and cheerfulness, and enjoyed being around her. Eleanor was the matriarch and glue that kept her family together and loved attending the holidays, birthday events and weddings that centered around them. She had a sharp mind and memory to remember everyone's birthday, which also included someone she just met. She was very interested in genealogy. She loved sharing her knowledge about her relatives, family and personal stories. She lived an incredible life and escaped death many times throughout it. She had a mission and it was her family and to be an example of her faith.

Eleanor was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . Because of her strong faith and love for the Gospel she was an inspiration to many of her family, which also became active in the Church. Her testimony always remained strong. She had callings to serve in the church and one of those was playing the organ for many years in Nevada and Utah. She played for many funerals and continued to play the organ in her home up to the age of 93.

Eleanor is survived by her sister Eloise Koenig; and children, Ken Millman, Neil Millman, Lynne Millman Weidinger (and Don), David Millman (and Bobbi Hughes), Lisa Millman Brown; her grandchildren; (Ken's children) Shauntelle, Bethanney, Meredith and Ivan; (Lynne's children) Caitlin, Melissa and Shannon; (David's children) Dominique, Dean, Keith, Michelle, David, Tyler and Wyatt; (Lisa' s children) Sean, Heather and Ashleigh; and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Fred Robert Koenig, sister Alice Koenig Kovach, son Dean Allen Millman, and her husband Henry Hart Millman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21st at 11:00 am at the Santaquin Downtown Chapel, 90 South 200 East, with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 am. Interment will be in the Santaquin Cemetery. There will be a luncheon after the services for all family and friends. Please come and celebrate with us the special life she lived.
