Doris Barlow

June 7, 1926 — November 13, 2019

Doris Mabel Johnson Barlow passed away on November 13, 2019 in Santaquin, Utah at age 93.  She was born the third daughter of Hyrum Alton Johnson and Lucy LaVerl Fox on June 7, 1926, in Jerome, Idaho.

Doris graduated from Jerome High School in 1943 when she was still sixteen. On September 21, 1945 she married Mailon Arlin Barlow in the Salt Lake Temple. He was in the Navy and they lived in California for several years before returning to their home in Jerome, Idaho. They were blessed with four children. Kent, Shane, Kim and Melody. Doris worked as a secretary for the Jerome School District for 25 years. After retiring in 1989 Doris moved to Kaysville, Utah to be closer to her children. In March of 2018, she moved to The Seasons of Santaquin Assisted Living where she lived until her passing.

Throughout her life she was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions within its organizations. She especially enjoyed working with the children serving as Primary President for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Twila Bingham, Iona Tranmer, Caroline Giles, Juanita Rigby, Janett Giles brother Mayben Johnson, a great grandson Joshua Barlow, and two daughters-in-law, Judy and Patsy. She is survived by her brother Garn (AnaMarie) Johnson, sister-in-law Merna Johnson, sons Kent (Nancy), Shane (Glenda), Kim (Tricia), daughter Melody (Perri) Knight, sixteen grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Santaquin City Cemetery.
