Wilfred Craig Burrell, 71, of Genola, Utah passed away Tuesday night, May 10th, surrounded by his family. He was born July 13, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wilfred and Kathryn Hardy Burrell. Craig spent his life engaged in endeavors that would build family and bring them closer to God.
On July 12, 1968 he married Gail LaLita Woffinden who will forever be his sweetheart. Craig will always be remembered as the father, grandfather, great-grandfather, scoutmaster and friend who had a priesthood purpose for every activity he undertook. Whether or not it was the building he built on his Genola property or the horses he always kept around, the purpose was to provide a way for family to gather and to build relationships.
Craig served an LDS mission in Helsinki Finland. He had a Bachelors degree from BYU, a Masters degree from Colorado State and a doctorate degree from Texas A&M and worked as a livestock specialist for Utah State University for 27 years. After retirement Craig served three missions with his wife and sweetheart Gail. His hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren, caring for and riding horses, raising and training colts, growing alfalfa to feed his horses and traveling to support his grandchildren in their activities.
Craig is survived by his loving wife Gail, his brother Kent and his sisters Connie Sawatski and Kaylene Peterson as well as his children: Shelly (Bert) Jorgensen, Jesse (Lisa) Burrell, Westley (Lynette) Burrell, Donna (Wade) Tischner, Wayne (Catherine) Burrell, Chad (Marcy) Burrell, Justin (Lora) Burrell, and Clarissa (Tyler) Sabey, 42 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charlie Burrell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Saturday May 14th 2016 at the Genola LDS Chapel on Center and Main. Friends may visit Friday night from 6:00 - 8:00 pm or Saturday morning 8:45 - 9:45 am prior to services at the Genola Church.
