Colleen Braithwaite Bateman passed away peacefully at her home in Mosida, Utah surrounded by her loving family on October 8, 2022. She was born January 27, 1934 to Ramona and Melvin Braithwaite in Payson, Utah. She grew up in Spanish Fork, UT the oldest of four children: Venita (Willard) Stolworthy, Ron(Sharon) Braithwaite and Geri (Kurt) Robbins. She spent many wonderful fun filled days playing with family and friends.
She attended Spanish Fork Elementary and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1951. She moved to Salt Lake City where she met the love of her life Wayne Charles Bateman. They were married in 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. They were blessed with 7 children; Debra (Jay) Tims, Steve (Karrie) Bateman, Brad (Shelly) Bateman, Lance (Kay) Bateman, Jason (Joni) Bateman, Lisa, Amy (Todd) Draper.
Colleen was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an amazing seamstress and cook. They lived in West Jordan managing the family dairy farm. They purchased land in Mosida in 1972 then moved there in 1974 where she spent most of her time taking care of kids and making everything beautiful. She worked along side of Wayne building the farm. She was very charitable and willing to take care of everyone around her. She opened her home to many people. She served in many various church callings. She served at the temple with her husband Wayne for many years then served a mission in Barcelona, Spain from 1994-96. Her family was her life and she enjoyed spending time with them. She has left a great legacy 7 children, 38 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and counting. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Venita, son Lance, and great granddaughter Lennon.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the care givers that helped out in our mothers final days. Thank you Marshall, Kiley, Barbara, Brittany, Kaitlyn and Megan. We appreciate your tender care.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Elberta Chapel, 15456 South 12800 West, Elberta, Utah with a viewing from 9:00 to 10:30 am prior to services.
