Carol Jean Smart Dixon Dean, 93 died July 14, 2024, peacefully in her home from pancreatic cancer.
Carol was born on March 6, 1931 to Lynn and Lula Pollock Smart. In 1950 she married Noel Gould Dixon and they had four children, Denne, Kent, Bonne, and Gus. Carol and Noel later divorced.
As a child raised during the depression and WW2, she never forgot the lessons of hard work and saving money. She spent her early youth being raised at various places including Vivian Park in Provo Canyon as the family followed their father on construction jobs.
Carol graduated from Spanish Fork High. She began work at an early age and worked at the Movie Theatre while in high school. She worked several jobs; Circle V Meats, The Body Shop where she loved going to market to purchase the latest fashion in Salt Lake, Geneva Steel, and many more.
In 1979 Carol met Jerald Dean and they were married on March 6, 1979. With Jerry’s son Dave and daughters Joan, Jodi and Julie we all became one big family. Carol and Jerald were sealed in the Provo temple on March 25, 2011.
Carol and Jerry spent many years at Fish Lake where they lived each summer. They loved Bowery Haven and would socialize and celebrate when Jerry would win the “biggest catch of the day”.
She was an accomplished crafter. She was an expert knitter, crocheter, painter, candy maker and wood crafter. She could do it all. She was an amazing cook and would always have food ready whenever family stopped by.
Carol always had a smile on her face and was faithful to the end with a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. Her favorite show was “The Chosen”. She loved to read scriptures daily and always attended church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rassmussen and Juab County Hospice (CVMC) and her sweet nurse, Julieanne.
Carol is survived by her children Denne (Mike) Bosco, Kent (Julie) Dixon, Bonne (Mike) LaCario, Gus (Wanda) Dixon, Jodi (Fred) Evans and Julie (Nick) Castleton. Her dear friend Sherlin Grill and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. We all loved her so very much!
Preceded in death by Jerald Dean, Noel Dixon, Dave Dean, Joan Cingaloni, her parents Lynn and Lula Smart, in-laws Gould (Madoline) Dixon, mother-in-law Cinda Dean and a granddaughter Cassandra Dixon.
Per her wishes a private family service will be held Wednesday at Brown Family Mortuary in Santaquin. Burial in Beaver, Utah cemetery to be laid to rest next to her husband Jerald Dean.
