Arnold LaMar Swenson, age 94 of Eureka, Utah passed away October 7, 2024. Arnold was born in Eureka, Utah on July 13, 1930 to Erik and Edith Swenson. Arnold graduated from Tintic High School in 1948. He worked for his stepfather, Ramon Achabal for a few years at the Silver Club. He joined the Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1959. He married Iris Hawkins on May 25, 1957. He worked at Dugway Proving Ground for 30 years. He and Iris had two daughters, Cynthia and Rachel.
Arnold was good at many things. He remodeled and added on to the family home. He took care of the TV translators for Eureka and Mammoth for many years. He loved fixing electronics and often worked on different projects in his workroom. He was excited to spend time with family and especially loved when his grandchildren came along.
Arnold was preceded in death by both his parents, four sisters, one brother and by the love of his life Iris (August 29, 2024). He is survived by his sister Noel Wall; his two children Cynthia (Terry) Kirgan, Rachel (Darrin) Carlson; his 5 grandchildren Jace (Ashley) Kirgan, Dayna (Christopher) Rush, RaeLe (Daymon) Barnes, Zane Kirgan, KayAnn (Josh) Adams, and 4 great-grandchildren, Cooper, Ember, Fox and baby Adams.
We will miss him so much. He was the best dad anyone could have asked for. We would like to thank Mountain View Hospital and Central Valley Hospice for taking such good care of him in his last weeks.
Graveside services will be held at Eureka Cemetery on October 12, 2024 at 11:00 am.
There will not be a luncheon afterwards.
