Arma Dawn Warner Kay, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the age of 86. Arma was born in Nephi, Utah, July 22, 1938. She was the oldest of 5 children born to James (Jay) and Elizabeth (Beth) Clayson Warner. She grew up in Nephi and graduated from Juab High School.
She saw many changes during her life from having to run to the outhouse on cold winter mornings to enjoying modern day conveniences. One of her most cherished childhood memories is of the time she saw President David O. McKay at the gas station, while on her way home from school, and was able to get his autograph. While she was attending High School, she met her husband, Dan Kay, at the city roller skating rink. They were married May 3, 1956, and later sealed in the Manti Temple. Arma and Dan made their home in Goshen where they raised their 3 children. Later on, as Grandma, Arma would play an active part in the lives of her 6 grandchildren.
Arma enjoyed many hobbies: gardening, knitting, crocheting, painting, needle work and bead work. She liked to go on fishing and camping trips, except for the preparation and clean up when it was over. She loved playing the piano and spent many years sharing this talent with others. She played the organ and piano for many church organizations, as well as the Goshen Ward 'Singing Mothers" and the 'Goshenettes'. She also did a great deal of genealogy work, blessing her family with books of information that she gathered. Arma loved to write. She will be remembered by many for her poems that she would share with her friends, which included about everyone she met.
Arma was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings including Primary, Sunday School, Young Womens, Ward and Stake Relief Society, and as a Temple worker. She also loved her time spent serving a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City.
Arma is survived by her children: Rex (Laurie) Kay, Dana (Duane) Carter, Glen (Pattana) Kay, 6 grandchildren: Carrie (Tyler) Norton, Jamie (Ammon) Sorensen, Julie (Brandon) Nixon, Dustin (Makardi) Carter, Michael Kay, Amy Kelly, and 12 great grandchildren; brothers and sister, Mark Warner, Clifton (Beth) Warner, Rebecca (Mike) Vaughan, Blair Warner. She was preceded in death by her husband Dan and sisters-in-law Linda and Mary Jane.
A viewing will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 78 South Center Street, Goshen, Utah from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Goshen City cemetery.
The family would like to express appreciation to Paige Steele and Chelsea Gilman for the loving care they provided.
